Somatic integrative therapy is a multi-disciplinary healing practice that combines traditional psychotherapy with work on your physical being. Your body is an acutely sensitive instrument, and most of its magnificent life-giving functions happen unconsciously in your body such as your breathing, digestion, heartbeat, and even most of your muscular movements. When you experience a traumatic or challenging moment in your life, your body may develop unconscious reflex-like behaviors as a protective mechanism. For example, if you were in a car crash and your body clenched up to lessen the impact on your vital organs, your body may now tense up any time you step into a car. Such traumatic reflexes can be painful and prevent you from living your fullest life.
If you have any trauma-induced tension stored in your body (e.g., in your gut, solar plexus, reproductive system, head, or even your pinkie toe - yes, it happens!), somatic integrative therapy may be able to benefit you. Somatic integrative therapy combines psychotherapy with a combination of assisted stretching, deep-tissue massage, yoga exercises, and simple holding and cradling. Working with your body can help restore balance, flow, and a felt sense of safety to your heart, mind, and life.
Discover Your Bliss
I believe in supportingyour sovereignty as we work together to discover and uncover your joy and healing. I cannot heal you, fix you, nor change you. I can, however, offer you a safe, present, and loving container so you may feel seen, supported, and held as we work together to create your optimal healing experience. You are 100% in charge of what we explore together and the pace at which we proceed. This is one of the deepest principles of healing work. Ensuring your sovereignty at all times is my commitment to you as your practitioner.
Professional Training
I received my undergraduate training with top honors in Neurophysiology from Stanford University. I studied polarity and deep tissue massage post-graduate at the Cypress School of Massage in Santa Cruz. More recently, I become a student of tantra through the Ananda Marga school of meditation, and in the Fall of 2019 I graduated from Francesca Gentille's somatic integrative program with a focus on healing sexual trauma in women. I am currently offering somatic integration sessions on a by donation basis while I pursue clinical certification in this approach. When I am not doing healing work, I serve as the co-founder and lead designer for an online service that trains therapists and makes it easier for patients to get matched to the most effective therapy for their needs.
